GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
THESE ARE SOME OF OUR BELOVED PETS WHO HAVE GONE TO PET HEAVEN.
Princess was a sweet dog. We got her for my aunt but she & I became attached. I was about 10 and my brother was 8. She was about 2 at the time. She would watch for us to come home from school. Once when we were going to go play in the car port she refused to let us out by jumping up and hitting the screen when we tried to open it. She then growled at us when we tried to force the door open. We called my dad and she very quickly let him out and led him to our typical playing spot. There in the middle of our trucks and toys lay a copper head snake. She knew it was a poisoness snake and wanted to protect us and led dad there so he could kill it. She would also protect our animals and us very strongly. She was hit by a car when I was 21. I was coming home from a date and saw her. I made my date stop the car and refused to let anyone else touch her. She was at the edge of our property and I carried her to the porch crying all the way.
Parker was one of the smartest animals I have ever had the privilege
of knowing. We found him at Bonham State Park and the boys were walking to
the water and suddenly he jumped in front of Dustin (who was walking hime) and growled and wouldn't let
the boys move. It frightened me until I saw the reason. There was a
large water moccasin lying on the step where the boys were headed. From
that second on I knew he was coming home with us. He loved our family and
our cats. He knew who belong and who didn't. He died
of complications of old age after having 2 strokes..
Squealer was a very sweet girl. She got
her name when we rescued her and her litter mates after their mother got killed
and she was a very noisy frightened kitten, but after that she had a tiny little
voice. She always slept either on the pillow next to me or at the right
hand foot of the bed. She unfortunately had feline leukemia from birth which showed up at
about 8 month old. She fought bravely, but after about 4 months succumbed
to the disease. I held her in my arms as the vet euphemized her. She
looked into my eyes as if to say good bye and went quietly. I know you'll
think this is strange but the night she died I woke up and after lying in bed
awake I decided to get up and go to the bathroom. When I got up I glanced
at the foot of the bed out of habit and could swear she was there. There
were no other cats there and this cat looked up at me when I walked toward it in
the dark and reached for it. My eyes were telling me it was Squealer
though I knew it couldn't be. Just inches away from her she
disappeared. Maybe she just wanted to say good by one last
time.
Tiffany was a great
cat. When my fiancée died she came into the room and was distressed over
my crying and went to get my oldest son. (Lassie eat your heart
out). She kept trying to get his attention and when he kept ignoring her
she bit his finger and then let him know to follow her. Then she hopped on
the bed and looked from me to him. She became sick when she was about 5
and we discovered she had liver
cancer.
